Michael Kratz will release his fourth studio album, “Crowded Silence,” on January 22, 2027 via Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group.
The new album marks the latest chapter in a musical career spanning more than four decades and continues Kratz’s long-standing focus on strong songwriting, melody and musicianship.
Before establishing himself as a solo artist, Michael Kratz spent more than twenty years as a professional drummer, touring with some of Denmark’s most successful artists and contributing to recordings that have collectively sold more than one million copies.
In 2012, he stepped forward as a solo artist with the release of “Cross That Line.” This was followed by “Live Your Life” in 2018, the live album “Live Your Live” the same year, and “TAFKATNO” in 2021.
With “Crowded Silence,” Kratz continues to draw inspiration from the classic American West Coast sound of the late 1970s and beyond, alongside influences from British New Wave and melodic pop and rock. References range from artists such as Toto and The Doobie Brothers to the melodic sophistication of Duran Duran, but the result remains distinctly his own.
At the centre of the album is Kratz’s approach to songwriting: memorable melodies, strong arrangements and songs built to stand on their own rather than follow current trends.
Throughout his solo career, Michael Kratz has worked with internationally recognised musicians including Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, David Garfield and Duran Duran guitarist Dom Brown.
“Crowded Silence” once again sees Kratz working closely with longtime collaborator Kasper Skadhede Viinberg. The two have worked together for many years, with Kratz remaining closely involved in the entire process from songwriting and arrangements to the final recordings.
The album was mixed by Kasper Skadhede Viinberg and mastered by Morten Maltesen. Artwork and CD graphics were created by Aeglos Art, known for their work with artists including Wheels Of Fire, Backlash, Raintimes and Room Experience. The booklet also features introductory liner notes by Eric Berger of RockMeeting.com.
The first single from the album, “Flip The Coin,” will be released on October 15, 2026 together with an official music video.
